do you think Mammon's tsundere nature is because he's been abused by his brothers so much or was he always like that
I think he’s probably always been like that to a certain extent, as I don’t think his personality has changed very drastically over the centuries. The fact he still helps people, including humans, definitely points to that as it’s very undemonic behaviour!
But I think it’s probably got worse due to the bullying as being a tsundere is essentially a defense mechanism, just like being overly sarcastic, boastful, or self-depreciating can be.
As he’s explained to MC a few times now, he finds kindness extremely hard to accept, as he’s always waiting for the attack buried within.
Somewhere along the way he lost the balance of using his tsundere mode to protect himself, and using it to actually push people away. He’s ended up as someone who proclaims himself to be the Great Mammon, yet also believes himself to be a scumbag.
I don’t think it’s any coincidence he often slips into the third person when boasting about himself. He is less likely to say “I am great” than speak of “The Great Mammon”.
That’s a pretty obvious distancing tactic, where he can point to his reputation and power as being truly great (which, as a demon lord and avatar of a deadly sin is certainly true) yet not identify with it wholly as himself.
The name Mammon might be that of a mighty demon, but the person called Mammon perhaps feels like he doesn’t match that reputation or expectation, ground down by constant insults about his intelligence and morals.
This can also be seen when Mammon is in demon form - he proudly shows off that form, gaining strength from it. But when he switches back, he hides his face behind glasses, and becomes a blushy mess when given compliments.

I do think a romanced or befriended Mammon would gradually become less of a tsundere, or play it more for laughs. Knowing there is someone who doesn’t see him the way his brothers say they see him, would be a massive help.
Not because he needs external validation in itself, but the presence of it would remind him that he hasn’t always believed that he is only worthy of negative labels.

It’s also important to note that of the two tsundere types, Mammon veers very much towards the deredere (lovestruck) end of the scale than the irritable end. He’s very loud about his denial, but he’s barely aggressive towards MC about it, aside from some loose “ew humans” statements early on.
It’s all very transparent! And he swings between pouring out his feelings and denying them, which is a little different from a typical tsundere who may seem interested then aggressive.
Mammon is a full-time sweetie pie 🥺🥰
